US Healthcare's Climate-Related Financial Risk Exposure

Yesterday, Columbia University’s Sabin Center for Climate Change Law published, “The SEC’s Climate Disclosure Rule Will Reveal Healthcare’s Significant Climate Risk Exposure,” I co-wrote with the Sabin Center’s s Director of Financial Regulation, Ms. Cynthia Hanawalt.
US healthcare is particularly exposed to climate-related financial risk because the industry is heavily dependent on debt financing, accounts for a massive amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions and remains uncommitted to mitigating its emissions.
